The Story of Kaira Hats

Welcome to the world of Kaira Hats!

I’m Jarno Hiltunen, a passionate hat maker, musician, and singer-songwriter. With over 14 years of entrepreneurial experience, graphic design, and video/photography skills, I am finally realizing my new dream – Kaira Hats.

In 2023, after years of longing, I decided to learn the secrets of hat making and attended a hat making course. Shortly after the course, I began creating my own hats, and I noticed the interest they sparked around me. I even received a few orders. The spark for Kaira Hats started to ignite.

Although my previous experience in handicrafts was minimal, the love for challenges and the desire to learn new things motivated me forward. Hat making offers a mental refreshment and a counterbalance to the daily work at the computer. At the same time, it reminds me of the songwriting process – surrender to it, trust the process, and often the result surprises positively. Additionally, hat making allows me to utilize my honed visual eye as a graphic designer.

Visual aesthetics have always been an important value for me, and it shows in the hats of Kaira Hats as well. I aim to showcase classic and timeless elegance in the hats I make, but also to experiment with bolder styles and color schemes. Each hat is as unique as its wearer. I enjoy designing hats collaboratively with clients.

The world of hats has been a part of my life for a long time – I bought my first proper hat in 2010 from the legendary Hattu & Hansikas store in Turku. Although that hat unfortunately fell victim to theft during a Christmas gig with my band, it was the first step on my journey towards making my own hats and the birth of Kaira Hats. I never go on stage without a hat.

The goal of Kaira Hats is to create high-quality, stylish custom-made hats that suit every head and style.
